Easy to use interface allows for quick and easy development of our platform. Plus the added ability to add personalized coding. The chat support is always happy to help and provide the answers required. Ongoing development opportunities are available.
Would love to be able to create a 'dashboard' that was able to be downloaded as a PDF report, rather than each Datapage separately. The limitation on the PDF formatting ability has a slight effect on how we present and display our data for our users. Also, when styling, happy to use custom CSS coding, just can't find the item to amend when it is not an obvious component, takes some trial and error.
We are able to save costs from using numerous third-party providers by collating it all and hosting all through Caspio.
There are many training materials in both print and video formats that make learning the system very comprehensive.
There are limitations to the system when comparing it to Access Database on the Custamozation of Forms and Reports level and converting them to PDF.
I have created a very robust database solution for three of our company's silos that we work in daily, with an average of 15 employees in the systems at any given time.
Very quick to setup once you know the fundamentals.
"SELECT" statements can't be used in many places.
Database shared with supervisors and managers to deal with HR, OHS and performance data. Quick implementation and fast results!
Easy to copy from Excel to Caspio DB then set up search forms for all the data entered.
If you go over a set limit you must upgrade to a paid version.
We have over 3500 members. Each members Radio ID changes every year (to reflect seniority) So, the searchable database is imperative on January 1st of each year.
Caspio has great customer support with minimal wait times and quick availability. They release a new update to their software every couple of months that introduces new ways to use their software as well as speed up creation time. They have different levels of security to purchase depending on your business type at different price points to fit your need. Many ways to deploy their applications throughout your site from embedding to iFrame. Love this product!
So far, I've been using Caspio for 6 months and don't have much to complain about. Some features can be released a little early and not everything has been thought through. It's usually fixed in the next patch like most software though.
We have been deploying table and infographics throughout our site. We recently launch a form for consumers to send information through and it gets sent to a specific email address where our team responds in orderly time. Great for customer service needs!
It has a good amount of capabilities without overloading a creator with too many complexities. It is not an overly complex system but still allows the creator to create some complex applications. The pricing is good as well. We have created many applications that would have taken much longer in more advanced systems. The table triggers allow for advanced table manipulation that really make an application powerful.
Would like more integration with the external systems however that does add to complexity for the creator. Also the ability to bind multiple screens within the UI rather than writing Javascript to handle the binding.
Approval workflows. Data display. Search engines. Safety reporting. It is quite simple to load in a large amount of data and build a search screen to view the data and then export that subset of information. Also, workflows to allow people to approve and view information have reduced the time and paper to get this done.
Simple interface and easy to use the platform, even for beginners with little to no coding experience. You can also easily import your own spreadsheets into Capsio with the click of a button, making data upload increadibly fast and simple.
While creating tables and datapages is very simple, developing your own "Styles" for designs seems more complex than it needs to be. Additionally, getting the full functionality of Caspio requires a relatively high-level plan.
We are using Capsio to streamline our internal work processes to track project progress, responsibilities, key contacts, etc. Capsio has allowed us to create tracking reports, submission forms, and more to keep track of our work.
The flexibility this platform provides by not having to be a professional developer is key for keeping IT resource costs under control. I do not have experience with competitors, but after working with the platform for a year and a half, I have no interest in seeking other solutions at this time.
There are a few drawbacks, such as triggered actions not functioning with bulk imports, however this is something that I believe is on the horizon. Import automation is a bit clunky but I imagine the Caspio team is working to improve this portion of the platform as well.
Our organization's entire DB structure lives in Caspio, as well as our internal portal. It saves us a huge amount of capital NOT having to employee consultants to develop a website for us to use internally.
Someone without coding skills can do the basic configurations.
The online help information doesn't provide enough examples or explanations of the various features.
It is customizable. Unlike most electronic medical record systems, reporting is at your fingertips.
drag and drop features in caspio, is great and very fast to launch a new website using caspio. very easy to navigate and guide users how to use the platform as well.
more customizable features. currently meets quite basic requirement from our user stories. will be good to have more customizable feature for those who can self learn coding.
sending of files from many individuals to a platform. what is good about caspio is the attaching of a file and admin can retrieve the file easily via the portal.
I love that the developers work so closely with the customers. Of course, when you reach support you will always get a support specialist, but Caspio developers seem to actually step up to help quickly, whereas most other sites I have worked with, the developers don't move as quickly
So far I have not found anything I dislike
I needed a feature added that I could not figure out myself. Support got it taken care of and continues to help.
Our business for the last 25 years has been based on the development of Microsoft Access applications. The conversion of our niche applications from Access to Caspio has been intuitive and so far quite successful.
The least helpful is that we are finding it more difficult to do very detailed custom printed reports out of Caspio applications.
We are retiring an outdated technology and taking our unique business design into a market where it can continue to be marketable.
Great tool for business users to create their own web applications without knowing how to code
It does take time to become familiar with development controls and user interface.
We don't have a lot of technical people on our team so we needed the ability to create our own database-centric web applications without coding
Not needing progeamming knowledge is a big plus
Interfaces are still behind the big players
Easy and quick databases tbat dont need it support
What I enjoyed with caspio is the great functionality and how easy it is to build tables.
When creating the drop down values in a table, I ran into issues with formatting when exporting the data.
Being able to efficiently collect mounds of data from a large number of people in real time.
I can quickly find prior audits and eval submitted by myself or others on the team.
Previously, on a different software, I would get emails when something was completed and would know that assigned audits were being completed. Now I have to log in to check.
Again, having the prior audits at my disposal helps track progress ans problems for different team members. Same with trainer eval. I can easily review how they are doing and see their strengths and weaknesses.
Caspio has great features but not as user friendly as they claim.
I recently tried to cancel my subscription only to be informed that even their month to month subscription ties you in for a full year this is not acceptable.
They are not solving my problem as they are refusing to cancel a month to month subscription. May this be a warning to new users if you don't like the product you are tied in for 12 months.
It was pretty easy to get started. There are a solid set of template apps that helped speed our evaluation process.
When working with a new supplier, I always find that the most significant test is when something goes wrong and how they handle it. This happened very early on in our evaluation. We required more time to get buy-in from our stakeholders. The free trial is 14 days in duration. We were happy to pay to continue our evaluation and so bought a monthly plan. What we missed was the small print that said all plans were a minimum one-year term. Although this is written on their website, it is in the smallest font size. I would usually consider tactics like this to be UX dark patterns. I wanted to give Caspio the benefit of the doubt so I asked if we could get out of this 1-year term as we were still in evaluation. They were insistent that we were now bound to the one-year contract. We went back and forth over this for weeks. In the end, we terminated our relationship with Caspio as there are many other providers that have more modern products and (most importantly in this case), better post-sales support.
We were building a volunteer management system. We didn't realise any benefit as we terminated our evaluation.
