Chatter is a good way to notify any team member of project updates. It also acts as a good spot to archive information contained in chatter messages.
Chatter seems very similar to email, but I will receive all updates if I follow the task that we are measaging in. We primarily use chatter inside of tasks in milestonespm
Better project comminication, but hard for team to move away from email
The most helpful thing about chatter is the collaboration feature. Sales can collaborate on an opportunity and tag team a deal. Managers can use chatter to know more about it. Internally we can do that as well.
There is not much to customize around Salesforce chatter. We cannot even customize the subject of the email asked you get when someone mentions you in a post.

When using salesforce, chatter makes it very easy to share, track, and tag fellow team members onto a certain item. With chatter it is almost like a social media feed that you can go back and track by date or time.
There was not much that I could find to complain about chatter, it was very easy to use and almost self-explanatory. The user interface was nice, as was the layout. There’s not really anything I would choose to change with the platform.
In my company, we solve the problem of not having a paper trail or proper system to pass information back-and-forth. Chatter made it easy to do so.
I love how Salesforce chatter allows you to communicate quickly to a large audience on specific topics. I use chatter to post all the latest and greatest on competitive intel and our sales team can easily access the information they need including links to docs and articles.
not everyone uses chatter or has adopted the technology making it challenging at times to communicate with them. Also, as you post relevant information can be pushed to the bottom and lost.
Previously we had no way of communicating competitive intel out to out field team. This made it difficult for reps to know what to say or how to sell when coming up against the competition. Now we are able to maintain a single source of truth where sales reps can post questions see the latest news and updates.
I like that I can have my productivity for the day easily accessible and all in one page
I dislike the layout mostly. It just feels very dated.

There are very few things I dislike about Chatter, but one improvement I would like to see is how files or links are not previewed in the chatter post.
We are able to tag coworkers directly on insights we find. Whether it’s on a Case Record, or Einstein Analytics Dashboard.
I don't have a whole lot of use of it, but knowing that there are other departments I need to contact that I don't work within that can help solve my problem, I know I can use this tool to meet my customers demands.
There's not a whole lot about it I don't disagree with, rather I'm more indifferent to the program. It gets the job done.
Solving problems outside of what department I'm in for where I work makes this tool easy.
Salesforce is great for things like Tasks but sometimes you want something faster - but that still has a history and is searchable. Chatter's @mention work like hashtags but also are tied to Opportunities, Accounts, etc.
Sometimes people will use when they should enter an actual trackable and/or assignable record. There is not accounting or follow up to see if a issue was resolved.
Cuts down on email between collaborators but is still manageable in the system. It speeds up communications between departments and allows the creation of ad hoc groups.

Chatter is an online collaboration software that has greatly enabled me to share my knowledge online with other members.

Has made the company's internal communication faster and stronger. It is easy to understand and use. The software is not complicated which makes the communication efficient and fast. File sharing has become really easy with Chatter. It protects the privacy of employees as well.
You need some time to get used to all the features Chatter offers. There's a bit of a learning curve. Other than that, I see no issues.
It helps us broadcast news to all other co-workers very easily. It is easy to find employees through Chatter and send any files without having to look for them in person. It has helped us to save time and cost.

The interface and the general acceptance of the service is lesser at this point in time. Therefore some people still like to use other messaging platforms.
It helps to talk with employees you don't really know well, therefore it bats for better communication and relations with peers ion the organization.
Chatter, at least in the Lightning experience of Salesforce, can be seamlessly integrated into almost any aspect of CRM Management. Problem? Issue? Something that needs to be highlighted? @ somebody about it. No need for an external email, no need to track workflow in multiple systems, the record is right there.
The only thing I dislike about Chatter is, when you start using it for everything, you have to be very careful to manage your notifications, digests, etc. It can quickly get to the point where if you are seeing everything, you're seeing nothing. We have trained employees on Chatter so that the best time to tag someone is if the issue or question is mainly or solely in the CRM. That way, it makes sense. Otherwise, it can be a lot.
Chatter is currently helping us with 2 problems. First, CRM troubleshooting and knowledge sharing. With multiple offices and units, our information and sometimes training can be very siloed. With Chatter, we can unlock some of that and even crowd-source best practices. Second, information storage and distribution. We are currently using Chatter as a reference tool, for collateral, presentations, and other things that need to be stored and distributed. It is not the ideal file management tool, but it is great for organizing and sending communications. Both these functions streamline two otherwise cumbersome processes, and allow us to immediately point to a single source for these items.
Chatter has been one of the best internal communication tools that allow doing more than just traditional chatting and sharing files. Badging and highlighting key contributors are what makes internal communication interactive and interesting at the same time.
It can be made a bit more affordable for better adoption.

I like that it makes it easy to communicate with your colleagues, it allows me to get ahold of them without hassle.
You do need to remember to check it, also it can be hard to get the hang of at first.
It solves communicating with our sales works, whether they are out on the job or here in office you can easily chat with them if needed.
It supports teams better communicate with customers, helps in sales and marketing, easy to set up, has integrated platform and allows live chatting.
The fact that it can be accessed by the third party is what I dislike most .

Chatter is so much helpful because it helps connect with people in an organisation or company making it easy to hold discussion due to availability of like and comment features. Sometimes people post unwanted things and again, the security of the software is not very good to post sensitive information.
It is least helpful because one can easily miss some information communicated previously if the notifications are many.It has a few features which makes it unattractive. It is only available in mobile devices thus can't be used on computers.One has to be familiarised with chatter to use it.

Although its demo version offers us a lot of help, it is always necessary to implement a more complete version to be able to efficiently apply it in an entire work environment, thus impeding its high costs of its plans to be able to obtain availability of all its services, even though it has a good range of packages for which we can choose according to our needs, thus choosing the one that best suits our work

I can easily retrieve files and data across the company I work for making my data analytics easier. I term the software as the best enterprise social network that drives productivity, accelerate innovation and share my analytics knowledge.
The configuration is a bit complicated for new users. It takes time to learn how the software works.
sometimes integrating with other software becomes hard because it is not automated and needs expertise.
