The best part is that to integrate different system/source in a single page and have simple visualization to the business.
VINYL is good platform to work with. Nothing much to point out. If there is one for a feedback - If there is a provision to add 'AND' in the SQL query instead of creating whole new business object, that would be great.
Using VINYL we have integrated different systems to have collective information in a single page for inventory management and can view near by store's inventory and place the merchandise.
I like how incredibly easy it is to view different endorsements in Vinyl. The grid that shows all of the different endorsements for any given week on a list makes monitoring a jock's endorsement schedule a breeze. I also love how Vinyl will notify me when someone has entered in an endorsement that is waiting for my approval. I'm a very busy person, and having notifications letting me know that there is something new to review is extremely helpful.
I don't like how as someone not involved in sales, I cannot enter in or edit any of the fields for a campaign myself. It can be a challenge to get some AE's to actually use it in general. I'm the type of person who just likes to take charge and make sure things get done myself, so that aspect is a little bit frustrating. But otherwise, I love everything else about it.
iHeartMedia uses Vinyl to keep track of jock endorsements. It's all kept together in an easy to read calendar and list, and helps us to make sure that everything a jock is doing endorsement wise is kept track of and it readily available to everyone in our nationwide company. It's so easy to manage this with Vinyl because of all of the easy and user friendly calendar options for keeping track of this stuff.
Customizable, nice dashboard and charts.
Many iterations to get the data pulled correctly. But team is responsive.
Quick reporting on company spend data.
Front-end intuitive UI for users. Ease of app.
Lack of organization with new app projects. Zudy needs to invest in an online-collaboration tool for tracking items (i.e. basecamp, smartsheet etc). Items tracked manually today (i.e.notepaid) which ultimately leads to unnecessary delays and frustrations. Constant bugs in platform. Seems like a lot of development was done on the fly and not adequately reviewed. Leading to an embarrassing roll out with the end users.
Streamlining our annual sales budget forecast. Very manual process today.
Speed of development, very database-driven with flexibility in how you display the data, secure platform, integration with React via a Vinyl widget
Limited interactivity that is typical of SaaS-based apps, not much usage analytics available, bringing the visual interface up to modern designs requires quite a bit of customization
Management of various innovation projects, progress reporting to innovation leadership, user roles & visibility, collaboration between different user personas, rapid development and deployment to help us build faster
From deployment perspective , its fairly efficient, configuration and installation of Vinyl app is also easy.
The recent upgrade has some flaws, passwords are not encrypted, some of the pages do not show complete info on the screen like ... to deploy an LP, the screen is small, and the full path is not visible. When you click 'Install,' no indication that the system is performing a task, the previous version did have some indication.
From what I understand , provided proper sql queries are used its an ideal tool for reporting. As a member of dev ops team , its easy to spin up a new instance , integrate with AD.
I really like the accessibility it provides for me
Sometime it has its glitches or doesn't load
Helping my customers with their needs
I like that there is a system that can house all endorsements rather than individual personal spreadsheets. Make it easier when orders are coming down very quickly and jocks need to be assigned to campaigns.
I think the system is very difficult to navigate and it's hard to search for things that ran/are currently running. Sometimes you will create a new search and nothing will populate even though the endorsement is in fact in the system.
Being able to hold people more accountable for things since everything needs to go through the system first. However, we have been experiencing orders being sent down without endorsements being submitted through the tool so sometimes it works backwards (not a system issue, more of a communication issue) I feel like there was no proper training on the tool so people are confused.
Rapid development and excellent develolpers/consultants
The options for UI controls are not as flexible but the developers are responsive in asking for improvements from the product team
We needed to build custom intensive order entry applications for different areas of the business; We built out the tools and are rolling them out to 130 retail locations.
Station details and information - all in one place
no complaints - It's easy to use but not used daily because we are such a small market. We have 5 stations and a total of 6 jocks it's just more convenient to ask them if they want to do an endorsement when we are practically sitting next to each other all day. I can see how this would be beneficial in a larger marketed or advertising in multi markets.
It saves time on scheduling meetings.
It has a good purpose. It can be used to see if their are any conflicting endorsements.
It has way to many clicks and the AEs get upset about how long it take to create a submission. Also, many times it says their is a category conflict, when their isn't. This creates confusion for both me ( the talent manager) and the AE.
Category conflicts. What the talent is open to endorse and what they are not.
Vinyl is a highly customizable product in which, with a clear vision and some creativity you can unlock the full potential of your online platform. The team of developers are very helpful when talking through ideas/functionality and provide valuable insight.
There is not much I have experienced in terms of downside, our platform has taken very long to build but there are several factors that have affected timeline including unclear direction from our end.
Vinyl is going to significantly increase our operational efficiency by providing our clients with a modern online portal that will upgrade the ease of use for our clients. It will also build a foundation to be a full service online platform.
It is easy to learn and use. It does not require programming or coding experience.
The business layer or the business rule is the most difficult part to understand.
The user does not need to understand programming or coding. It saves time to train the non-experience user.
platform is very easy to use and all training videos are very easy to follow.
There is nothing apparent that i dislike
We are using the low code platform for our item maintenace system. It solves the problem of everything being disorganized
I like that I was able to explain what our department needed, and Vinyl could almost always find the logic to create a personalized functional program for us. Even when my minimal computer knowledge made it hard to understand what I wanted, Vinyl team found a way to comprehend my requests. As my group began using the tracking system they developed for us, Vinyl team was always open and available to quickly update/revise the tracker as needed for practical use.
I only wish it would have been easier for a quick phone call from time to time to talk out what function I was hoping to implement (as sometimes a quick call for a quick revision or update is faster than having to write out a lengthy email).
My department had no universal tracking system for our shipments that was accessible to all in the department and quick/easy to use. Before Vinyl, we had multiple excel spreadsheets being used, and reporting would usually take hours. with the online tracker they developed for us, reporting takes minutes. All information is available to anyone wanting to review it (eliminating a lot of back-and-forth email communication and follow-up between all in our department).
Vinyl is a great platform for developing enterprise-level tools in a quick yet efficient way.
I do know how to code so sometimes it's hard to figure out how to configure certain parts when I can easily code the area.
We are building tools to help run the radio endorsement business better.
Ease of use of the application and the query builder
Changing the name while searching for BO's within the same page renames the actual object.
Ease of development and navigation, deployment and immediate access via the IDE Run are great features for instant verification of our development process.
I liked the no code/low code implementation aspect for customer-authored solutions. There isn't any coding required for standard functionality. My simple customization only needed 2-3 lines of HTML code for formatting on my landing page, but VINYL can run more complex customer code for advanced features. Database and SQL competency are still required, but the system has a great implementation to manage tables and queries. The system structures the SQL code as a user input form. I only used SQL syntax to format query data with standard string manipulation functions. Their self-paced training modules were a great help in understanding the implementation that allows the environment to be no code. The development team members were knowledgeable and capable SMEs that provided robust solutions for us with support when needed. They were also very supportive when we needed guidance for our customer-authored content. I also like that an app can be downloaded on a mobile phone/tablet, or a web browser can be used.
My biggest challenge was separating my solutions while maintaining cross-solution data connections. This challenge is an underlying database structure/functionality issue, so it isn't an issue with VINYL itself. It does affect how solutions are deployed within VINYL. Consideration should be made early in development to tackle standardization and the structure of solutions, ensuring specific data points are available to all solutions.
Vinyl helped solve a standardization issue with several work processes. It also allowed those processes to digitize data entry, providing us with historical data and data visualization. Additionally, the platform and app made our solutions accessible to deployed resources (employees working on-site in industrial areas) paired with tablets as part of our managed device configuration.
The ability to deliver a solution, as an application, for our business processes in-house. We can have needed apps internally maintained in a relatively straightforward manner based on multiple data solutions. Our business rules drive our applications, and our ability to customize a solution for an area enables us to better deliver for the ever-evolving goals of a business unit.
It is all in one, so if we have more than one application on the one instance and there is a need to redo/restart based on the box itself, there is that risk but that can me mitigated with redundancies and the appropriate backups, but that also takes planning.
We can support some of our larger business processes in a centralized manner. Areas of the business that are smaller in overall size can now have a light app that delivers efficiencies in their overall workflow, which would not have been possible because of the time it would have taken to spin up/maintain a custom instance/development.
