In this Jasper AI review, we’re exploring the features, functionality, and benefits of a popular artificial intelligence writing tool. In recent years, companies have rapidly begun to leverage the benefits of AI for multiple processes and operations.
Around 91.5% of leading businesses say they invest in AI on an ongoing basis. However, studies show the majority of these companies are focused on harnessing AI for cybersecurity, compliance, customer service, and support.
AI writing tools are still a relatively underutilized form of AI service, designed to empower marketing professionals and accelerate the production of high-quality content. Although the AI writing landscape is still quite new, experts say it will grow to a value of $1,363.99 million by 2030.
Jasper AI, previously known as “Jarvis”, is widely regarded as one of the best AI writing tools around. This simple solution aims to help businesses improve their writing, brainstorm ideas, and come up with new content for marketing purposes.
But is Jasper AI really as valuable as it seems? Let’s find out.
Previously known as “Jarvis”, Jasper AI is an online writing tool that leverages artificial intelligence to help users create new content, and improve their existing writing. Jasper can create content automatically, using natural language processing combined with specific inputs.
Using Jasper, business leaders and marketers can create blog posts, ads, social media posts, landing page copy, stories, and news reports within a matter of seconds.
Jasper is widely regarded as one of the best AI writing tools around, with more than 1000 5-star reviews on trusted sites, and endless positive feedback from customers. The solution produces some of the highest quality AI-driven content because it has already been trained by expert marketers and copywriters. The key advantages of Jasper AI include:
Jasper AI was released in 2021 by CEO Dave Rogenmoser, and is backed by the same team responsible for the “Proof” software.
Previously, Jasper AI was known as both Jarvis AI and Conversion.ai. However, it’s managed to maintain an excellent brand reputation, despite a few refreshes over the years. The company has also achieved some phenomenal success in the AI market within a short period.
In November 2022, Jasper AI successfully raised $125 million in Series A funding, giving it a valuation of approximately $1.5 billion today.
Jasper promises to rapidly increase the content output of marketing companies, help them to brainstorm new ideas, and ensure they can write better in every environment. The AI solution is trained to produce high-converting copy, and all of the content produced is plagiarism-free.
One of things we noticed during our Jasper AI review, is that this technology is extremely straightforward to use. Although you will need to deliver specific information to the AI algorithm to ensure you’re producing the right content, there’s plenty of guidance throughout the interface to help you. Once you sign up for a plan with Jasper AI, you can create content in 3 simple steps:
Jasper AI comes with a range of templates for users to choose from, so they can focus on building the right kind of content for each platform. Each template is optimized for a different environment, use-case, or content marketing goal.
You can search through the available templates with a keyword or simply browse through the various options offered by Jasper on the dashboard. Options range from long-form content to AIDA frameworks, Facebook ad posts, and more.
Once you’ve picked an appropriate template for your content in Jasper, the next step is narrowing down the specific information you want the content to cover. This is probably the most complicated part of using Jasper AI. You’ll need to be precise on the subjects and topics you want Jasper to cover, to ensure you’re developing the right information.
You can enter information like specific headlines or sub-headings for a blog post. It’s also worth entering information about the kind of voice you want to portray in your writing, such as “witty” or “persuasive”. Users can also include a content brief, keywords, and any other relevant information they would usually give to a blog or content writer.
Finally, once you’ve entered all of the correct information into the Jasper ecosystem, you can click the “Generate AI content” button. You can also choose how many versions of your content you want Jasper to produce, so you can explore different options to find the right one.
The system will start producing content at an exceptional speed, on the right-hand side of the page. You can then click into this section and start editing your content, using suggestions for grammar and spelling from Jasper to guide you.
Jasper AI has various levels of writing support to offer, depending on the package you choose for your service. “Boss Mode”, is the switch you can use on premium plans to enhance your writing experience, and write up to 5 times faster.
Boss mode speeds up your content pipeline by allowing you to create content 80% produced by AI and 20% edited by you. The solution also integrates with SurferSEO.com, to ensure you can use the right keywords for your content. Plus, it works with Copyscape to check your content for plagiarism.
As an added bonus, Grammarly is also included to help improve your grammar and fix spelling mistakes rapidly. Boss mode includes:
One of the things that made our lives easier during our Jasper AI review, was using AI “recipes”. These are pre-built workflows which already include a series of specific commands designed to help you create content quickly and conveniently. You can create your own recipes, and also access new recipes shared by the Jasper community.
All of the recipes you use will be saved in your “recipes” tab in the Jasper sidebar. You can get started with recipes using the featured list available on Jasper or the suggested options created by the community. Simple click the recipe you want to use, and select “run” to create a new document using the recipe of your choice.
You can also alter your recipes however you like, making changes to keywords, tone of voice, and other valuable points.
One of the biggest concerns companies have about using AI for content generation, is that they won’t get the same excellence from a robot as they would from a human. First, it’s worth noting that Jasper still needs some input from a writer or marketer in order to produce the right content. In this way, it’s not a complete replacement for your marketing team.
However, if you can get the input and framework right, then Jasper can produce relatively high-quality content. The key to success is making sure you read through what’s produced carefully. Let’s look at Jasper’s performance in a few key areas:
As mentioned above, Jasper AI isn’t an alternative for a copywriter or a comprehensive marketing team, but it can be a powerful tool for a range of use cases. Some of the people most likely to benefit from this tool based on our Jasper AI tool include:
Simply put, if you’re looking to automatically create better content at speed, Jasper might be a worthwhile investment. Just don’t expect the tool to do all of the work of content creation for you.
Part of what makes Jasper AI such a compelling choice for today’s business owners is how effective the technology is at integrating with other critical marketing tools. The solution has its own Chrome extension, as well as various integrations for tools like:
Jasper AI is an excellent AI writing assistant, but it’s far from the only solution on the market. There are plenty of other leading tools out there designed to deliver similar functionality. However, Jasper does have an edge in the current market. It offers benefits most other solutions don’t, such as:
All of the amazing functionality you get from Jasper comes with a specific price tag. There are a few different options to choose from. To begin, you’ll be able to create up to 10,000 words of content for free, to see whether you’re really comfortable with the service. Notably, however, you will need to enter your credit card details to do this.
Outside of the free plan, there are three paid packages to choose from. You can swap between monthly or annual payments, depending on your needs. However, annual plans do come with a 17% discount if you’re looking to save some extra cash.
Options include:
Every plan can be customized with an increase in word counts and the number of team members. This means the more content you produce, the more you’re likely to pay.
Ultimately, Jasper is an excellent tool for AI content writing and editing. However, like any online tool, it has a range of pros and cons to consider.
Pros:
Cons:
Ultimately, our Jasper AI review revealed that this tool could be a valuable solution for many companies struggling with content creating. It can help you to come up with unique ideas for content, and accelerate the writing process. However, it’s not the perfect way to eliminate the need for any content writers in your marketing strategy.
Jasper can improve the content produced by your team, and give you more assistance with your overall content writing plan. However, we’re not sure if it will completely eliminate the need for amazing writers in the digital marketing landscape.
Jasper is great for brainstorming and helping me create a skeleton piece, especially for social channels, that I can build my content from.
It doesn't quite speak my language yet, however with use, I believe that will change over time.
Reducing my time on creating social content, I can now spend more of my time on creating engaging images.
Love that it saves time and prevents writers' block.
There are so many options for how to start writing and I'm not always sure which one I want.
Generating enough marketing content to stay relevant
I have been using Jasper to come up with blog ideas and suggestions. I don't get writer's block anymore. I ask Jasper for ideas, and I instantly have a list of great answers
The one thing I don't like about Jasper is the cost. The cost hurts, but the tool is too helpful to not own now. Also, the learning curve can be pretty steep but Jasper has great training, so stick with it!!
Blog topic ideas is the main reason why I have Jasper. Its quick and easy to get a long list of great topics to write about. I also like how it can rephrase paragraphs
What I like best about Jasper is that it is very user friendly and very straightforward.
What I like least about it is that it is quite expensive compared to other AI tools.
Jasper helps me create captions very fast and it saves me so much time to do other important things for my business.
It helps speed up the creation process by providing new ways to look at a piece of text. This is best for the granular sentence level more than anything. It won't be writing seamless whole paragraphs
It really just isn't a person. This sort of tech just isn't really in a place where it can completely fill the roll so to speak.
We are speeding up the content creation process by miles!
Using Jarvis makes it feel like I have a partner or support with my article outline and editing process. Being able to highlight chunks of text and have Jarvis rewrite different versions (to give me quick ideas on how to rephrase something even if I end up replacing much of what Jarvis writes in order to make it sound more natural/make sense) is very helpful when I am lacking motivation and need to crank out a bunch of list style or how-to content. I also like typing up an article in Jarvis and then occasionally prompting Jarvis to write a few sentences for me.
Literally anything that requires Jarvis to find information (even if that information is readily and easily available on Google in many different places, and even if I provide a link to a specific website page so that Jarvis knows where to pull info/copy from) results in Jarvis providing incorrect information a majority of the time. For example, If I give a headline that is the name of a product, movie, or type of business and a specific city (just to name a few) and then start sentences myself that give specific information on the specific product, movie, or business I want Jarvis to continue with and finish the description of, I end up with invalid information that does not correlate with the information online or even on the specific websiite I've indicated. In short? I think AI tools need a few more years to figure out how to pull correct information from Google to incorporate into copy/articles.
Even though I'm rewriting pretty much everything myself (i.e. not using the copy that Jarvis writes) it still helps me to go through the process of using Jarvis to type up a few sentences of copy, because it prompts me to rewrite that copy. I end up getting a lot more done more quickly. Often, seeing unnatural or bad/repetitive copy is the inspiration a writer needs to come up with better copy. We wouldn't get there with a blank page/screen, but as soon as we see a paragraph with some generic descriptions and keywords unnaturally used way too many times, we suddenly are inspired to edit, and we do better writing than we would have without the prompt! In short, so far, I'm using Jarvis as a prompt/motivator to write better copy, and it's the not-very-good copy that Jarvis writes that prompts me/motivates me.
Jarvis allows me to just get my thoughts out without stressing over how they sound. He does the hard word-smithing and makes it coherent. I can produce blog posts in no time by researching and using the content improver.
The 400 word limit is sometimes challenging. Jarvis occasionally populated an output that is the same (or closely identical) to the original. That’s frustrating. But that seems to have been improving over the last few weeks.
Fast and efficient blog writing. Increased social media engagement with Jarvis’s engaging headlines.
Jasper helps you quickly generate ideas.
It's labor-intensive and a little confusing to use longer "recipes." Though, I get why it has to be. The AI needs ample context.
It helps with idea generation and finding potential angles / content gaps you may have missed in articles, chapters, etc.
It worked well for short sentences and ad copy.
It produces paragraphs that make no sense. The platform ended up costing me more time than it was worth to read, pick and then go back and edit everything.
Ad copy. It worked very well for the short form stuff.
They have some fascinating short-form content creation tools.
Long-form is missing from the tool should include that as well.
Short-form content for personal use
Software layout. The user interface is easy to navigate.
Quality of the content. After using the software more frequently, I find that it does NOT generate content conducive to a high-quality blog. It will provide ideas or suggestions, but it is NOT an auto-pilot type of solution. Be prepared to write the bulk of your blog articles from personal experience. This software will not do it all for you.
I am using it to write blog articles for my business.
Its boss mode tools offer various solutions to get the work you need to do, done. It simplifies the content creation process. It could be better though. I think there are competitors that provide a better solution.
They ask for a card payment, which is something I don't really like. It is an old sales technique, but hey if it works for them then more power to them.
Keeping my money in my pocket. It would be nice to have other options to be able to try the product and its features. Competitors offer trials, incentives, and solutions to buy credits, rather than ask for your money upfront.
I find Jasper AI produces the absolute best content of all the AI writing tools I've used. In addition, the interface for working interactively with their AI while creating a document is, in my opinion, also the best that I've used.
To pressure customers into paying more money for higher tiers, Jasper, AI has done something unprecedented. They have removed any way to organize the content that you create with their system. They initially provided folders, but they have REMOVED THEM! Now, they provide something called campaigns, which is just a folder. And, at the base level of $39 a month, you get ONE folder. Try to organize all the content in your office in one folder. How'd that work out? You ask,"Can you get more folder/campaigns?" Yes, you can, if you are willing to pay an additional $75 more EACH MONTH, they will give you 9 more folders. It is ridiculous, especially because THEY HAD FOLDERS and REMOVED THEM! Imagine if Google Docs charged $10 per folder... it's ridiculous. I've created a dozen documents this month, and I'm already having trouble keeping track of content. So, I cannot recommend this product. If they could make an outlandish product decision like this, what might they do next once you've spent hours priming their system to write content for your company? They really are the best tool. It's a shame. (PS. If somehow a product manager at Jasper reads this and decides to restore the folders, I'll take this down.)
It radically speeds up your writing process and helps you research information to include in your writing.
Easy tools to use for multiple projects!
The website seems to have a few features that are not working correctly.
Making social content more accessible than before, I can now set them up in minutes instead of waiting for a good post for a week or month.
The technology is great, if you have time to meet with the coaches & utilize all of the features on a consistent basis. This is true.
I signed up for a yearly plan, giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'd be using this software & service forever. I found that I simply could not dedicate the time necessary to accomplish my SEO work. So my web agency found a way to work my blogging into their workflow, which made Jasper AI obsolete to my business. This should be an expense that I could eliminate for the new year, right? WRONG. They insist on holding onto over 6 months of my subscription fee, refusing a prorated refund. A few bucks, but the principle. There isn't one major tech organization that I know that doesn't prorate a refund these days. This sole decision will keep me from ever coming back. Just a heads up if you're "considering" Jasper. You better commit!
I used Jasper religiously for my opening paragraphs for content. Starting can be the hardest part. However, these trigger plagiarism checkers...so what am I paying for?
Customer service was ridiculous. Explained my problem four times to four different representatives, with no results. They double charged me for my account, once on the first of the month and again on the 31st--with no answers, explanation, or accountability! While it is a great tool for projects like brief business summaries for GBP, unless you plan on writing a 500-word-or-less blog post using completely made up "facts" as content, this tool is worthless. Been flagged for plagiarism using this tool as well, and quick Google searches reveal this tool is a giant gust of hot air not based on reality in any sense--not in billing, customer service, fact checking, or "originality." i cannot believe i paid for this product for as long as i did. If you are going for false, plagairized quantity of content without substance, Jasper is the tool for you.
I used to feel some resistance when starting the first paragraph, and Jasper alleviated that. I've since discovered that this content is not only factually inaccurate, but is not original when run through a plagairism checker. It's actively created problems for me since starting. i do not recommend.
How easy it is to setup an overall article structure and outline.
It was a bit of a learning curve. However, with a bit of playing around, it's been extremely easy to pump out articles. Also, the Art AI service they mentioned replaces stock images. This is in fact a lie and the dimensions are for only tiny image sizes. Avoid at all costs and would be better to stick with Pexels or Unsplash for stock images.
Mindnumbing articles that need to be produced daily.
The benefit of the tool is brainstorming a title.
Jasper produces very generic content that should not be used on your blog without significant manual writing and editing. If you ask the tool to write a post that provides advice, it serves up broad, common-sense tips with no actionable detail. The generic nature of the output is the same regardless of the topic, leaving the reader to wonder how to implement the advice. If you want readers to gain real value from reading a post written by this tool, be prepared to spend serious time editing the writing. You are far better off hiring a content writer or outsourcing the task.
Jasper unfortunately doesn't solve any problems. We still need to hire content writers to produce quality content because the tool is not capable of doing it without pain-staking manual input.
That it exists. AI tech will come far in the future.
I dislike that for me it wasnt obvious that the number of words is limited. Most of the time I dod not like what the AI wrote, so I tried to let it reformulate 5-10times. After an hour of work, not credits/words were left. Meaning when serious work should be done, the already expensive plan gets even more expenisve.
Benefits are that you dont have to write every single word. Give the AI your ideas, it will formulate sth in decent wording.
So the tool itself works ok, however, the best feature is it connects with SurferSEO. It gets facts wrong a lot, wrong dates, and other factual stuff completely wrong. Some of the content it produces is very poor.
What absolutely terrible customer service. This company charged my card $358 CAD vs $59 normally because the account went over a word limit, and somebody decided to implement a 'feature' that auto upgrades you to the next tier which was rough 5x the existing fee. I never even had knowledge of this at all! No email, no notification in the app or anything! It just upgraded it by 500%. The next day after complaining, they refunded me this amount, but then decided to block access to the account! Absolutely mental! Now I have content that was being edited I can no longer access, so this company has stolen content from me. They probably have some weird TOS that state they own it, but they don't. This is probably the most bizarre app and support I have ever used in my life. A while back I also noticed some random users in the account using the app, after notifying their 'support' they just brushed it off. What other app will auto-upgrade your account without you basically knowing and then shut you down for complaining!!? Who gives these frauds the right to do this? I have about $1000 worth of content lost now.
I got this tool to speed up content production with my team of writers, that is what problem it was supposed to solve. The benefits are that you can get Jarvis/Jasper to write content on auto-pilot.
