This is affordably priced and easy to use.
There is a lack of templates that are available for free, but the ones they do have are not that bad.
This gives us an easier means to collect revenue, and is very user-friendly!
The design of the stores, and ability to modify product pricing, bulk editing
Having to navigate through so many menus, and especially modifying options/option sets across multiple products. Lots of clicking and conceptually difficult to do. Too complex steps. Easy to make mistakes.
Online purchase of data and report products.
Very easy to setup a store and to manage it in production. Lots of apps to plug into our workflow.
Many of the modules aren't easily customizable.
We often build and manage BigCommerce stores for our clients and make recommendations on which software to use. We like BigCommerce because it's easy to get an ecommerce company ramped up on the platform quickly and get their store online quickly.
Easy to use features and someone can quickly learn on this platform.
We have to download A LOT of third party apps. ie: we couldn't do a Buy One, Get One sale, we had to purchase an app for that.
We wanted an easier platform for retail clients, and BigCommerce VERY user friendly.
I like how easy it was to set up my store. I also like the number of options I have to display prodycts and template.
Not connected to get response email capture. Its hard to reach customer service sometimes.
I help people to improve brain productivity and human potential.
Easy to search for previous clients while being able to look at the newest ones coming in - easily organized.
I would prefer more options on the purchasing site we have started and I would like delivery confirmations to come through Bigcommerce
This system solves the problem we were having with our initial storefront
Great basic design, back-end, great prices, and lots of available support (both in house and freelance) to help get the job done). Works as good as a store as a basic catalog too.
Not as flexible for a few tasks. Unable to password protect certain pages on website (i.e. B2B/trade log in pages). Many in house BigCommerce people (at least on chat support) do not know the full limits or functionality of their own product.
Tracking visits, which products get viewed the most, ease of updating and editing product pages, and having to be able to have a certain sales-only portion dedicated to the site
Very easy to setup and has pretty good customization features. No transaction fees from BigCommerce. Monthly or yearly subscriptions. available You can have between 3 and 100 staff logins but the price obviously goes up with more users. You can even hire designers to design and market your business for extra.
Pretty expensive.

The overall architecture is futuristic, and product management is comparatively better than other products in similar lines. Other tools uses product attributes as tags where in this you create a new attribute which helps in terms of complex filtering, searching on website.
The marketplace is not that big as of yet but growing. The overall system is not that mature. Suppose you are looking to launch an eCommerce solution with OOTB features. This is a good solution.
Its an eCommerce solution and helps merchants quickly go live with minimal requirements of the technical team. Integrations are simple for the apps which are available in marketplace but again marketplace is not that big.
Easy to use. Quick to set up. Good live chat support.
Not enough apps available in the marketplace. Shopify is a better choice.
Ecommerce platform. Listing products and generating sales.
Can manage multiple brands/websites. Can see order history. Can manage coupon codes easily.
Can't see a full receipt after a refund. Can't manage subscriptions from within. Can't easily see some details like credit card used for orders.
We switched from WooCommerce to BigCommerce and in my customer service role it doesn't seem to perform better than WooCommerce.
Simple user-friendly administration and dashboard
Does not help with integrating with other platforms like Salesforce and Oracle EBs
Host all e-commerce websites as well as any marketing website on platform. Benefits had been that migrated many websites to the platform in about two years.
The support the company offers is excellent. Generally, you don't have to wait too long to get the help required.
To get all the features, it is on the expensive side. They need to get better pricing.
I use BigCommerce to run my website and give support through other third-party programs.
It has a very easy to use interface. Allows you to easily teach team members how to assist customers, add products, and more. They have a great support website where you can find forums on almost anything you need help with in BigCommerce. Their livechat support is also very quick and helpful. Intergration of most apps is easy. Recommend shogun and justuno apps if running a e-commerce site with BigCommerce.
Not the most advanced for promotions or shipping. Needs several external apps to run most efficiently. Some free, some paid for. Would like to see some of the same features from Shopify, like the easy text checkout feature and Instagram integration. If you do personalized items it is a bit tricky to set up those as well and sometimes limits you.
Easy e-commerce platform. Many team members can assist on their own user roles. This makes it easy to get things done. Customer service representative has their own role, marketing team, product manager, etc... BigCommerce pulls data from your store to social media for easy tagging of products on Facebook and Instagram.
I like how simple and streamlined the order processing is. Not having to manage a server gives us time to focus on selling. There is an unlimited amount of flexibility for those who have a software developer on staff.
The functionality is somewhat limited to the partners BigCommerce has chosen to integrate with if you are not a developer. The system doesn't seem to fit nicely with people who do phone orders. When not having control of stock it's best not to capture funds up front tying up money.
Customer ordering, returns, landing pages, marketing, are all things we use it for. Ecommerce platforms have evolved significantly and BigCommerce has refined the process. They do have a good amount of activity on their plugin page so there is plenty of functionality to choose from.
Very straightforward dashboard layout, support community is helpful. Built in themes are decently designed.
Limited in design ability. For example, we had to hire a developer to add a sentence tp our checkout page. Product page layout is unable to be changed. 600 sku maximum. Limited in discounts we can offer to customers. For example, we can't do "buy any door, get a free door handle" type discounts. There are glitches on the backend with rules.
To be honest, we feel that bigcommerce is holding us back from expanding our business and we are thinking of switching platforms.
I love that BigCommerce is compatible with our sales platform, ShopKeep. By the click of a button, I can make my merchandise available on BigCommerce and it automatically imports the price and SKU onto our website.
It is not that user friendly. It is hard to find something easily - you have to do a little digging to find what you need. It doesn’t have a lot of options to personalize your website, either.
With BigCommerce, it is now SO easy to keep track of our inventory on both our sales platform in-store and on our website. BigCommece updates our inventory in real time every time a sale is made.
Ability to set up a site in no time, as well as add-ons like e-commerce, reviews, etc. Integrates well with many third party apps.
The ability to include product variations and add-ons still isn't fully fleshed out. It is possible to do some custom development, but that does require some expertise.
Ability to sell products, integrate with email marketing, and integrate with CRM.
big commerce has amazing customisation options, and if you know a bit of code (or hire a programmer), you can really take it to the next level.
it's a bit cumbersome to learn everything at first, but you get used to it after awhile. I don't recommend it for small businesses, as the cost of the plans really only make sense for m/l ones.
big commerce is easier than WordPress for an online shop
BigCommerce organizes incoming customer orders into categories, including pending, awaiting fulfillment, and awaiting shipment, which keeps our workflow going smoothly.
My personal use of BigC within the company, the fact that orders are listed by customer name, rather than the name the order is to be shipped to, can create small snags for me when searching for an order if those names and different.
Because I handle shipping and do not input orders myself, BigCommerce helps keep me in the know and updated with orders my employer has manually put into BigC. And on the other side, the site keeps my employer up to date with which orders have been shipped, which are awaiting shipment, etc, improving our communication.
