Fast pretty, and you are surrounded by other quality content
Not as easy as youtube- but getting closer.
show videos to clients
Large storage space, clean interface, ease of use, and no ads. The password protection is very helpful.
The cost of the pro account feels fairly high, especially as a non-profit. I would like a feature that allows comments at specific points in the video, similar to what Soundcloud has for audio.
We use it to upload private video content that we are in various stages of refining. Not ready for public consumption yet, and allows our staff to review and give feedback.
Processing time is reasonable, there are good privacy options and its a stable and reliable video hosting platform for videos on wordpress sites.
Sometimes the smallest change in settings can result in the embedded video just deciding not to play. Also its quite annoying to get to your albums/channels from the home page. IT SHOULD BE RIGHT THERE but you have to go to profile to find it.
Hosting videos for sites and sending previews. The password feature is great.
I look at vimeo as a professional youtube. I have my animation demo reel up and am much more comfortable sending people there than to any other video site. I don't want anyone to associate my video with whatever recommended videos happen to be next to it. Its the site I use when I want to market myself as an animator
searching and categories can be somewhat off and not always what i'm looking for.

The process is super easy to make for quick sharing among work colleagues.
There are not many engagement metrics when it comes to Vimeo, so you would have to use another software if that's what you're after.
Quick and easy sharing of content.
Very easy to use and great for building a portfolio of work, you can personalize your page with the video positioning and categorize them into folders which helps future clients find videos easier. I particularly like the simplicity of sharing the video with clients via private links rather than file sharing.
I can't find many negatives for Vimeo, and overall my experience has been a positive one. The only thing that comes to mind is that repositioning the videos can take a while when you're doing it in bulk. We had to unpin each video individually, we tried to google a quicker/easier option but couldn't find anything; that's not to say it could be a user error.
Easy to showcase and share videos with prospects and clients. Creating an engaging page of our content, increasing brand awareness and organizing them based on style or industry for convenient watching.
Vimeo's versatility is what makes it one of the best video solutions for filmmakers. It offers private links, password links, the ability to screen record which is great if you are needing to make a proof of concept teaser, has decent editing functions (although limited) and integrates well with websites.
My only real complaint is when trying to use Vimeo as a streaming platform service, especially when working with partnering venues. You have to upload your film for each particular screening event. Personally, it would make life a lot easier if you can use the same video link but change your screening options (ticketed, free, expiration dates, discount codes, offer donation or choose your own ticket price) for each event and give its own unique link.
sharing videos privately mostly. I'd love to use it as a public program option, and have, but its very limited in that arena. However, the options for keeping the links private is useful.
The organization features for the videos! The ability to group videos together and make them easy to find with the folder structure is what some other video platforms lack.
There can be some fairly frequent outages that are frustrating especially as we use this for business. And they aren't always resolved quickly and there is typically nothing you can do about it as the user.
We solved storage and organization issues. Now we can easily find videos no matter how old they are. We have benefited from the constant advancements and new features that Vimeo is constantly adding to the platform.
Vimeo still feels more premium than other video hosting platforms and the lack of advertisements within videos (like on YouTube) is huge. I work in Squarespace and I'm glad Vimeo links can be embedded there
More affordable subscription options would be nice for those who aren't power users but need more than the basic plan. A $10/month plan or similar would be ideal
I used Vimeo most in my commercial video business for hosting finished work, but I also recommend it to my Squarespace clients as the platform to host their website videos on
I like that I can easily manage hundreds of videos organized into different folders, and then I can globally edits settings by folder.
I'm not too fond of one detail--let's say you have 400 videos in a folder, and you want to change the password for all 400. When you open the folder, it will only display the first 20 or so. The only way to select all 400 is to click "Load more" about 20 times until the whole list is displayed, and only then can you select all 400. Exasperating.
We produce hundreds of videos for our clients, and they need to be password protected. This is not possible with YouTube, but very easy with Vimeo. Videos make up a substantial part of our business.
The customizable video players are nice and we have been using these on our website for several years. Where Vimeo has really come into its own has been for providing feedback on video content that we have been working with different video producers to create. It has completely streamlined the review and approval process from something which was slow and laborious to being very efficient. Sharing feedback on drafts has never been easier.
There is nothing I dislike. Overall I am very happy with the platform.
Previously a lot of time was spent in logging and sharing feedback on multiple versions and re-edits of videos, with lots of back and forth discussion via email. Now we have moved the entire process into Vimeo making everything much faster and efficient. It is now much less time consuming
Vimeo is the platform where I keep my portfolio of videos, it seems to me that it is a page with an aesthetic and a super professional design, which gives you the possibility of uploading the videos in a very orderly way. I like it because I use it professionally, when I have to send a video I can put the password and protect it so that only the person I want to see it sees it, the quality of the video is incredible, once you upload it with a quality you reproduce it as it is and not lowers its resolution, and houses an incredible library of professionals, so you can get a lot of feedback
I think there are not many things that I dislike about this platform, except that the free video plan conditions the HD quality of the video, that is if I upload a video with a lot of resolution and I do not have a premium plan I can not use, and also limits the storage.
Vimeo has been a great tool in my work since I discovered it has become the cloud of my videos, to send clients, to calls, in short, I feel very satisfied with your platform because I feel super reliable and has always been fast upload my videos, so far I have had very few errors using it.
Ease of use. Upload and updating videos is a breeze and with the setting options, I can easily set the view/ads/embed options and privacy so I can control who and where people can view these videos, especially if we need to share a secure video with a client. Also extremely easy to set thumbnail, upload captions, and organize videos into collections.
The only thing downside I've seen in the past is finding my videos, but it seems I was looking in the wrong place and kept forgetting to go to the Manage Videos dropdown menu next to the Vimeo logo.
Hosting videos to be shown on multiple product marketing and help center sites, and securely sending videos with confidential info to clients using the passcode option.
Super cool website with access to a lot of interesting, educational material. Super easy to create your own videos as well.
Nothing really. The site is user friendly and easy to use. Can turn you into a videographer even if you have never created a video on your own before.
Creating videos.
Vimeo allows us to stream video on our website without anything extra being added, such as ads. The annual cost is decent, too. We also like that we can upload videos for email marketing, and you don't have ads appearing, like you do with YouTube, or sending users to another organization's video after watching yours.
Can't think of anything! Vimeo is really great!
Streaming videos on our website; uploading videos to share through email.
I recommend vimeo in terms of regular services and when it comes to their 'more immersive' services, you can expect the same level of quality that you have always received from them since day 1. I know I can trust Vimeo to give me good service and I can expect the results I want from what I upload in terms of viewership, likes, etc.
I sometimes feel like their help center does not respond as fast as I would like them to. They do respond fast, but not quick enough sometimes. I usually end up googling or searching facebook for my answers to problems which is more time consuming, but I still get an answer quicker than waiting. It is annoying that not everyone will be able to appreciate your work without the appropriate medium to watch (IE VR glasses) but, those who can will appreciate it and even those who can't will still be happy with what they are seeing, because Vimeo quality is Vimeo quality in the end.
How else can I put my VR out into the world aside from uploading it online?
The ability to interact with over 200 million users on Vimeo with some of the best upload and download quality in HD. Helps attract new customers and build brand presence while showcasing a fun side of entertainment. Has hundreds of video lessons available with service.
Business account only $50 per month, but billed annually before trial ends.
We have expanded our market presence and awareness in emerging markets. Helps us to lead/link into social presence on facebook and instagram.
I like that you can upload content in 8k
they must improve the platform for student classes
it can accommodate all the heavyweight videos
To be able to remove the Vimeo watermark (pro version). I also like that we can control who can view our videos. Like how Vimeo converts the video to multiple different formats.
You only get up to 5GB of free upload per week. Speed can be slow at times.
Vimeo does integrate much more smoothly with the app than YouTube. We are using the platform to roll out some training videos and private videos from events.
